Pastry Shop—Passion, Craftsmanship & Innovation
Hotel Alpin's pastry shop is a team of people who love what they do. We work in Szczyrk, in the heart of a welcoming hotel, where every day brings new guests and challenges.
Our Values
Individuality. We do not make mass-produced cakes. Every cake leaving our pastry shop is made specially for a person, couple or occasion. We always listen, ask and create.
Freshness. A wedding cake must be fresh: our cakes are made on the wedding day or at most one day earlier. The sponge is light, cream has the right consistency, fruit is juicy.
Quality without compromise. We use the finest ingredients – milk from local suppliers, real chocolate and fresh fruit. You can taste it in every bite.
Professionalism. From first conversation to venue cake assembly, everything is done precisely. Every moment matters, so we are always prepared.
Hotel Alpin Pastry Shop Team
Our team consists of pastry chefs with many years of experience who regularly attend training and workshops. They are open-minded, creative people who can listen to and bring even the boldest ideas of couples to life.
Wedding Cake Creation – From Conversation to Venue
Creating a wedding cake is a process, not a transaction. Here is how we do it:
Stage 1: Consultation (30–60 minutes)
It all starts with a conversation. We invite you to our pastry shop, have coffee and talk about:
Your cake dreams
Favourite flavours
Your inspirations
The character of your wedding
The number of guests
Your story (each couple's story differs, and a cake represents it beautifully)
At this stage, we do not sell – we listen. Photos, descriptions and inspirations all matter. Guests often bring Pinterest photos; we explain whether a solution will be durable and taste good, and suggest alternatives.
When: at least 2–3 months before the wedding.
Stage 2: Design/flavour proposals (2 weeks post-consultation)
After the consultation, we return to the workshop and create a design. We sketch the cake, choose colours and suggest decorations. We also prepare at least 2–3 flavour combinations to taste. Today, the tasting must please not only the couple but also the guests. If someone says “it’s too sweet”, we listen and seek an alternative.
What happens at this stage:
We test the ingredients
We prepare flavour samples
We sketch cake versions
We select colours (sometimes several iterations are needed to find the exact shade)
Stage 3: Production: 1–3 days pre-wed
Once everything is agreed, we begin. At our pastry shop:
Days 1–2: We bake sponge layers, prepare fillings and make creams.
Day before wedding: Assemble tiers; prepare decorations.
Wedding day: Final decoration and assembly (if delivered to venue).
Every stage is carefully planned. We know what must be done and when, so everything is ready exactly on time.
Stage 4: Delivery and assembly at venue
If your wedding is at Hotel Alpin, we assemble the cake directly at the venue. We check the temperature, lighting and placement. If any final adjustments are needed, we make them then.

FAQ – Wedding Cake and Bakery Services
When should I order a wedding cake?
You should order your cake at least 2–3 months before the wedding. This allows time for consultation, refining the design and preparing our team. During peak season (May–September), dates may fill earlier, so contact us as soon as possible.
How long is a bakery consultation?
The first consultation usually takes 30–60 minutes. We discuss your dreams, preferred flavors, inspiration and wedding details. There is no rush – we want to get to know you and understand your goals. The consultation is free – there are no extra costs to worry about.
Can I change the cake design at the last minute?
Small changes (ribbon colors, a flower, serving count) are usually possible. Report major changes (complete redecorating, flavor changes) at least 2 weeks in advance. Stay in touch with the bakery at least a month before the wedding.
How many does a cake serving feed?
One cake serving is usually 100–120 grams per person. For 100 guests, you will need a 10–12 kg cake, usually equivalent to a 3–4 tier cake. If you are also having a sweet table with extra desserts, you can reduce the size of the main cake.
Can the cake be dairy-, egg- or gluten-free?
Yes, absolutely. Tell us about allergies, intolerances or dietary preferences (vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free). Our team knows recipes for specialty cakes and can prepare them to be just as delicious as traditional ones. Important: Tell us about guests’ dietary needs at least one month in advance to allow time for preparation and testing.
Is cake delivered to the venue, or must I collect it?
If your wedding is held at Hotel Alpin, the cake will be assembled directly in the wedding venue. Our team controls the temperature, lighting and final setup. If the wedding is outside the hotel, we deliver the cake in a special transport box with assembly instructions. We are always available by phone for any questions.
Can the cake be chilled during the wedding if it is warm?
Yes, subject to certain conditions. If the wedding lasts 5–6 hours and it is warm (above 22°C), the cake should be stored in a cool place (cellar, cold room or refrigerator). Our team can prepare the cake extra chilled and ensure it is perfect when served to guests.
Can I see your cake portfolio?
Of course! See our work on Instagram: @hotel.alpin.szczyrk, Facebook: Hotel Alpin Szczyrk and TikTok: @alpin_hotel_szczyrk. You are also welcome to visit our bakery in person – seeing and tasting is more than browsing photos.
Should my partner attend the consultation?
Yes, absolutely! The consultation lets you choose the flavors, colors and style together. Both partners should have a say in how it looks at your wedding. We sometimes invite a bridesmaid or best man for an extra opinion and fun shared moment.
Can I see cake photos before the wedding?
Yes. We photograph the cake while creating it (for your keepsake album) and before assembly at the wedding venue. You can ask your wedding photographer to photograph it during croquembouche cutting. For professional cake photos for social media or a portfolio, we can arrange this—tell us in advance.
What if we have preparation questions?
We are always available. You can contact us by phone, email, Instagram DM or in person at the hotel. Questions are normal – we respond quickly and are always happy to help.
What does a Sweet Table look like? More than cake?
A dessert table is more than just a cake. It includes the main wedding cake, mini cakes in various flavors, macarons, cheesecakes, dessert cups (tiramisu, mousse, panna cotta), fresh flowers and decorations. Choose a full or mini dessert table based on guest count and budget.
Can I order a wedding cake in a nontraditional flavor?
Absolutely. We offer classic combinations (chocolate + fruit, vanilla + strawberry), experimental flavors (lavender + lemon, caramel + salt, whisky + chocolate), and themed cakes tailored to the couple's passions. During the consultation, bring inspiration or flavor ideas that interest you—we'll test them.
Is there a discount if I book both the wedding and the cake?
Ask about promotions and packages! If you book your wedding at Hotel Alpin and your cake from our pastry shop at the same time, we may offer special terms. Contact us directly to learn about available offers.
